Po - Kung Fu Panda
Master Po Ping is the title character and the protagonist of the Kung Fu Panda franchise. He is a young anthropomorphic giant panda in his 20s, who is improbably chosen as the Dragon Warrior, champion of the Valley of Peace in the first film. He's the adoptive son of Mr. Ping, and is one of Master Shifu's students.
Po is also the prophesied Dragon Warrior, as well as the warrior of black and white. In Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Po's revealed to have the ability to be able to learn kung fu at a glance.
Po is friendly, kind, energetic, impulsive, good-natured, spunky, innocent, fun-loving, compassionate, smart, naive, loveable, and he never gives up. Though Po's real passion was for Kung Fu, he was reluctant to disappoint his father by revealing it. Despite having a mild and friendly personality, Po also developed a severe self-loathing, believing himself a failure for being both obese and a species not known for a warrior tradition. When he gets upset, he usually gorges on food to dull the pain.
Po is a major kung fu fanatic and runs a noodle shop with his father (who is a goose). To the surprise of everyone, he is selected by Master Oogway to be the Dragon Warrior destined to defend the Valley of Peace from danger, and now trains under Master Shifu and alongside his idols, the Furious Five. Originally born in a farming village to his birth parents, Po was separated from his family as a result of a massacre.
He was eventually found by Mr. Ping, who adopted him, hoping for Po to inherit the family noodle shop some day. However, Po was drawn to kung fu, and his unwavering enthusiasm led him to be chosen as the Dragon Warrior, after which he began training under Master Shifu.

Your Name
Your Name is a 2016 Japanese animated drama film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai and produced by CoMix Wave Films. The film was produced by Noritaka Kawaguchi and Genki Kawamura, with music composed by Radwimps. Based on Shinkai's novel of the same name published a month before the film's premiere, Your Name tells the story of a high school girl in rural Japan and a high school boy in Tokyo who swap bodies. Makoto Shinkai behind Voices of a Distant Star and 5 Centimeters Per Second, comes a beautiful masterpiece about time, the thread of fate, and the hearts of two young souls.
The day the stars fell, two lives changed forever. High schoolers Mitsuha and Taki are complete strangers living separate lives. But one night, they suddenly switch places. Mitsuha wakes up in Taki's body, and he in hers. This bizarre occurrence continues to happen randomly, and the two must adjust their lives around each other. Yet, somehow, it works.
Your Name is an animated Japanese romance (dubbed in English) about two teens -- one a city a boy, the other a small-town girl -- who intermittently wake up in each other's bodies. The movie is part sci-fi/fantasy and part romance and is best suited for mature tweens and teens. Although it's animated, the themes and storyline aren't going to appeal to younger audiences, who may not be ready for some of the issues related to waking up in a different body.
There are several scenes of Mitsuha touching "his" breasts when he wakes up in Taki's body, and the first time Taki wakes up as Mitsuha, "she" inspects his parts as well. An older teen smokes, adults drink at a gathering, and there's occasional insulting language like "shut up," "stupid," and "pervert." At the same time, themes include compassion, curiosity, and empathy, and there's a clear message about what it really means to fall in love with someone. The film won the 49th Sitges Film Festival, 2016 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards and 71st Mainichi Film Awards for Best Animated Feature Film, as well as receiving a nomination for the 40th Japan Academy Prize for the Best Animation of the Year. A live-action remake is currently in the works.

Loving Vincent first fully painted animated film
Loving Vincent is the upcoming first fully painted biographical animated film. It tells the story of painter Vincent van Gogh. “Loving Vincent” opens in the U.S. next month in New York and Los Angeles, and later in the year in various other cities.
Vincent Willem van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years of his life in France, where he died.
125 painters, 62,450 paintings and the better part of a decade for writer-directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman to get it done, but “Loving Vincent” is the first feature-length animated film to be made entirely of oil paintings on canvas. More than 100 of Van Gogh’s paintings were re-visualize for “Loving Vincent,” which was the Audience Prize winner at June’s Annecy animation film festival.
The development was funded by the Polish Film Institute, and re-training of professional oil painters to become painting-animators on the film was partially funded through a Kickstarter campaign. Each of the film's 65,000 frames is an oil painting on canvas, using the same technique as Van Gogh, created by a team of 115 painters. “Loving Vincent” takes the phrase “every frame a painting” to very literal new levels. Most of the scenes are written and structured in order to accommodate as many of these reference points as possible — even Lars von Trier would chafe at such a ridiculous obstruction.
This Movie rely on the relationship between reality and illusion, but “Loving Vincent” antagonizes those forces against one another. The movie isn’t just presented in the style of van Gogh’s paintings; on the contrary, it fulfills Albinus’ dream by seamlessly stitching 94 of the paintings into the action.
The Boss Baby by DreamWorks Animation

The film was directed by Tom McGrath and written by Michael McCullers, and stars the voices of Alec Baldwin as the title character, along with Miles Bakshi, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, and Tobey Maguire.
The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby's arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks' The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages. The Boss Baby premiered at the Miami International Film Festival on March 12, 2017, and was released by 20th Century Fox on March 31, 2017, in the United States.
The film was scored by Hans Zimmer, along with Steve Mazzaro and various artists. The Boss Baby's soundtrack was released on Back Lot Music & iTunes. BAFTA-nominated Joseph Wallace Creates Stop-Motion Video for Sparks
BAFTA-nominated animation director Joseph Wallace has created stop-motion music video for the legendary American pop band Sparks.
It is puppet versions of Russell and Ron Mael find themselves in Paris, and then engaged in hot pursuit of an elusive bird of paradise. So is brought to life with Wallace’s recognizable blend of wiry puppets, cardboard sets and painted backgrounds.
The song is a tribute to the French cabaret singer, actress Edith Piaf, who was an icon in the 1940s and 1950s. She died at the relatively young age of 47 in 1963, after years of alcohol abuse and a series of car accidents.
Ron and Russell Mael issued this statement about the video: "Perfectly capturing the mood of the song 'Edith Piaf (Said It Better Than Me),' the video is also a rapturous work of art in its own right. Wallace said:“I didn’t want to illustrate the song too literally as the lyrics were fairly clear and the sentiment was really strong for me, so I tried to create a metaphor that would almost visually score the music and hopefully enhance the meaning of the song.”

The Red Turtle Completely Free of Dialogue
The Red Turtle is a 2016 French-Belgian-Japanese animated fantasy drama film. The film was directed by Dutch animator Michaël Dudok de Wit and produced by Toshio Suzuki from Japan. The film tells the story of a man who becomes shipwrecked on a deserted island and meets a giant red female turtle.
The film has no dialogue. It premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The film was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film for the 89th Academy Awards. Through the story of a man shipwrecked on a tropical island inhabited by turtles, crabs and birds, The Red Turtle recounts the milestones in the life of a human being.
"The Red Turtle" is one of those rare animated movies that transports you to a different setting without demanding that you focus on narrative or character development. Instead, viewers are encouraged to fall in love with an environment, specifically a small tropical island on which a nondescript, mute castaway inexplicably finds himself shipwrecked. This focus on setting over narrative is crucial since "The Red Turtle" follows the normalization of one man's romance with nature. Because this is a fable, the above-mentioned romance is quite literal: our nameless castaway falls in love with a shapeshifting turtle that transforms into a beautiful naked woman. He also inevitably stops trying to escape his surroundings, and starts to build a home on the island. The dialogue-free drama shows a dead red turtle transforms into a human woman, who becomes the mate of the very man who caused the turtle's death.
The screenplay was written by Dudok de Wit and Pascale Ferran. Studio Ghibli’s first non-Japanese production also marks the feature film debut of Dutch-British illustrator and animator Michael Dudok de Wit, an Oscar winner for the 2000 short Father and Daughter. The main difference between this type of story and the one that "The Red Turtle" eventually becomes is that there's always something that's entreating or trying to catch the viewer's eye, whether it's blessedly un-anthropomorophosized crabs, or a forest of gently swaying bamboo shoots. The Red Turtle received critical acclaim. On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 94% score based on 107 reviews, with an average of 8.1/10. The site's critical consensus reads,
"The Red Turtle adds to Studio Ghibli's estimable legacy with a beautifully animated effort whose deceptively simple story boasts narrative layers as richly absorbing as its lovely visuals #10 Best Movie of 2017 #70 Most Discussed Movie of 2017 #86 Most Shared Movie of 2017

Zarafa French-Belgian animated film by Rémi Bezançon
Zarafa is a 2012 French-Belgian animated film directed by Rémi Bezançon and Jean-Christophe Lie. It was released on 8 February 2012 in France.
The story of the everlasting friendship between Maki, a little boy aged 10, and Zarafa, an orphaned giraffe, a gift from the Pasha of Egypt to the King of France, Charles X. Hassan, Prince of the Desert, is instructed by the Pasha to deliver Zarafa to France. But Maki has made up his mind to do everything in his power to stop Hassan from fulfilling his mission and to bring the giraffe back to its native land - even if it means risking his own life - because he must fulfill his promise to Zarafa's late mother. During an epic journey that takes them from Sudan to Paris, passing on the way through Alexandria, Marseille and the snow-capped Alps, they have many adventures, crossing paths with the aviator Malaterre, a pair of unusual twin cows called Mounh and Sounh, and the pirate queen Bouboulina.
The film was based on the historical event, of the Giraffe given to Charles X of France by Muhammad Ali of Egypt, and Rémi Bezançon wanted to make a film of it as soon as he heard about it, and was also keen to explore the issue of slavery in a film.
Parents need to know that Zarafa is an enchanting animated story about an orphaned African boy's journey to find his place in the world and to protect a young giraffe for whom he feels responsible. Filled with funny moments, offbeat and interesting characters, and a bounty of exotic global settings, the movie also has some heartrending moments, including the deaths of characters whom the audience has come to love. Multiple scary and/or suspenseful scenes find two children in danger from a ferocious dog and an evil villain -- a slave trader who stalks them, keeps the little girl in chains, attacks the boy, and shoots to kill. A young boy's parents are captured and his village is burned (shown in background); narrow escapes, rescues, and threat of capture are frequent. A man is shown under the influence of a substance he's smoking from long pipe, and a hero in despair turns briefly to alcohol and drunkenness. A hippopotamus is notable for farting and spraying its surroundings with feces. This French film is best for kids who are comfortable with reading English subtitles, can handle some sadness, and know the difference between real and imaginary violence.
