Alice in Wonderland 1951 film

Alice in Wonderland is a 1951 American animated feature produced by Walt Disney and based primarily on Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland with a few additional elements from Through the Looking-Glass. Thirteenth in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, the film was released in New York City and London on July 29, 1951 by RKO Radio Pictures.

Walt Disney found his Alice after seeing the 10-year-old Beaumont in the Esther Williams splash-a-thon On an Island With You (1948). Replacing Margaret O’Brien, the Londoner contributed her voice and modeled for the animation team.

After Alice flopped, Beaumont went on to work as an elementary school teacher in Southern California. Marc Davis, the only one of Disney’s Nine Old Men who happened to graduate from Klamath Union High School in Southern Oregon, worked on Alice In Wonderland as ‘directing animator’, a position he would also hold on Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and 101 Dalmations.

Cinderella 1950 film

Cinderella is a 1950 American animated film produced by Walt Disney and based on the fairy tale "Cendrillon" by Charles Perrault. Twelfth in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, the film had a limited release on February 15, 1950 by RKO Radio Pictures.

Disney Princess has become bigger than Walt Disney ever dreamed when his struggling studio took a huge gamble to make its first princess movie, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.Cinderella was the first full-bodied feature produced by the studio since Bambi in 1942; World War II and low box office returns had forced Walt Disney to produce a series of inexpensive package films such as Make Mine Music and Fun and Fancy Free for the 1940s. Live action reference was used extensively to keep animation costs down.

Most of the princesses were first introduced centuries ago in oral folklore and revised fairytales, but they were reinvented by Walt Disney to star in their own now-classic animated movies, namely "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937), "Cinderella" (1950), "Sleeping Beauty" (1959), "The Little Mermaid" (1989), "Beauty and the Beast" (1991), "Aladdin" (1992), "Pocahontas" (1995), and "Mulan" (1998).

The film received three Academy Award nominations for Best Sound, Original Music Score and Best Song for "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo".

At the 1st Berlin International Film Festival it won the Golden Bear (Music Film) award and the Big Bronze Plate award

Bambi 1942 Film

Bambi 1942 Film

When Bambi was initially released, Disney advertised the movie as a full-out romance, focusing on the happier aspects of the film with little warning to parents about the deeper themes involved.

Bambi is a 1942 American animated film produced by Walt Disney and based on the book Bambi, A Life in the Woods by Austrian author Felix Salten. The film was released by RKO Radio Pictures on August 13, 1942, and it is the fifth film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series.

Disney took the liberty of changing Bambi's species into a white-tailed deer from his original species of roe deer, since roe deer do not inhabit the United States, and the white-tailed deer is more familiar to Americans.

The movie is based on Austrian Felix Salten’s novel Bambi. Eine Lebensgeschichte aus dem Walde (Bambi. A Life in the Woods), published in 1923 to great critical acclaim.

This film received three Academy Award nominations: Best Sound, Best Song (for "Love Is a Song" sung by Donald Novis) and Original Music Score.

Dumbo 1941 Film

Dumbo 1941 Film

Dumbo is a 1941 American animated film produced by Walt Disney and released on October 23, 1941, by RKO Radio Pictures. In 1941, Walt Disney’s “Dumbo” appeared on the scene, and has been cherished ever since. Only 64 minutes long, this film tells the story of the ugly duckling, but uses elephants in place of ducks.

The fourth film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, Dumbo is based upon the storyline written by Helen Aberson and illustrated by Harold Pearl for the prototype of a novelty toy.

The main character is Jumbo Jr., a semi-anthropomorphic elephant who is cruelly nicknamed "Dumbo". He is ridiculed for his big ears, but in fact he is capable of flying by using his ears as wings.

The story opens when storks deliver newborns to circus animals, in particular, Jumbo Jr., who is delivered to Mrs. Jumbo. From the on set, Jumbo Jr. is nicknamed “Dumbo” by the other elephants because of his large, oversized ears.

In a defensive action for her child, Mrs. Jumbo is locked away, leaving “Dumbo” to fend for himself in the circus environment.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1937 film

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1937 film

It is hard to imagine what a marvel Snow White was when it was released in 1937. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 American animated film based on Snow White, a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

It was the first full length cel animated feature in motion picture history, as well as the first animated feature film produced in America, the first produced in full color, the first to be produced by Walt Disney, and the first in the Walt Disney Animated Classics canon.

Walt thought it would cost $250,000 to produce, and ended up as a then unheard of $1.5 million. Disney had to mortgage his home to get the picture finished.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was one of only two animated films to rank in the American Film Institute's list of the 100 greatest American films of all time in 1997 ranking number 49.
